Hi guys. It’s been a while since I’ve recorded a podcast, a vlog. It’s mainly because when I did the vlogs with the game playing in the background, YouTube won’t let me monetize that. So, it’s kind of brought be down from doing more vlogs.
But in the meantime exciting things happened and I think even in this format it would be nice to post something. So, first of all I have a new camera. As you can see I can record 720p video, and it’s a lot of fun. Hopefully I will start making more content with this camera.
The other big thing that happened two days ago was the DraconiCon, the Israeli gaming convention, in which I ran three sessions of interpretive role-playing games based on the Marvel Heroic role-playing system, as I told you before. It went well, some more then others.
I got really tired about half way through. My voice was a little gone. I almost couldn’t talk, but it was fun and I think people enjoyed it. Well, most of the people. I know some of them didn’t. But I will hopefully continue to participate in more conventions, but not as intense as I did in this one. I don’t think I will ever take a full day and do all those events, because it’s just too stressful and tiring.
In the end it ruined my fun a little bit. I don’t say that I didn’t have fun, but the stress really got to me. Hopefully, in the future, I will be organized better, I will prepare myself better, and I will have even more fun.
I have some pictures here to show you of two of the sessions. The top one is the morning sessions, where it was for all ages. It was very good, mainly because people didn’t know the Marvel Universe and it’s a great advantage.
The other (in the bottom picture) people were more familiar with the material and some people were nit-picking about the characters, about the settings. It’s less fun that way. In the future, if I will use this system, I probably won’t be using the Cannon Marvel Universe. If I want to run super heroes, I will make a setting of my own.
In the last gaming round (which I don’t have a picture of) I ran my own setting which was not a super-heroes game but a setting based on Mobile Suit Gundam, which I told you before and it went really well. It was great fun. It was the best session I ran all day. I think it’s a great beginning of this game line which I will continue to develop in the future.
This is the most important thing that happened in the last few weeks. I decided to publish role-playing game books. As you may know from my website I’m an aspiring game designer. I wish to work on both video games and table-top games. But since video games are right now out of reach, because I don’t have the exact technical skills to do that, I will start working on something I can do. That is writing game books.
I have two products that I will be working on in the following year. One of them is in Hebrew for my local crowd because I wish to support the [inaudible 00:04:44] in Israel. It will be a more classical fantasy setting, sword and sorcery kind of stuff around my Homebrew setting. I will be using a pre-made system. I don’t know which yet. I started to contact some people to see if I can license the system. I have several thoughts on the matter.
Today, actually, I made a table of contents to try and figure out what will be in this book. I tried to make it available for around $15 to $20 for around 80 or so pages. It will be in digital format. I’m not going to publish it in print and I hope it will go well.
The other book that I’m going to write, which is based on the setting I ran at DraconiCon, is called “Battle Suit Wizard” and it’s an animal style mecha game. It’s going to be written in English, also published digitally in PDF. But since in English, there are a lot of options for print on demand. I will try to make it available on those as well. I will also be using a pre-made system. Right now my train of thought is to use “Savage World”, which has a very good licensing system, and that’s about it.
More updates to come. I will also be writing a post for the website, summarizing DraconiCon and starting development logs on those books. My English section will be mainly about “Battle Suit Wizard”, my Hebrew section will be mainly on the hunter fantasy book called Vanor. I hope you’re enjoying this update and more to come, goodbye.
